What you'll do
We have over 1,400 delivery offices all over the UK where letters and parcels are taken for final sorting and delivery. Each one is run by a dedicated manager – and when they go on holiday or have to attend a training session or a meeting, we call on our dedicated cover managers to help. You’ll support a cluster of around 3–5 offices, each one employing anything from 20 to 120 people. You’ll take responsibility for a centre for a few days or a few weeks, keeping it efficient and effective and making sure it meets our customers’ expectations.
What we look for
You don’t have to have worked in logistics to be a manager at Royal Mail; you be in anything from retail to manufacturing. What’s important is that you’re a great manager, with the strength of character to inspire the best possible performance in others. The nature of the job means you’ll often be working at short notice with people you don’t know – so you’ll need to be enthusiastic and resilient to get the job done.
